Hey

I officially love my English class. It's the best one I've ever, ever had, minus Ms. Fitz's class because I never really appreciated her the way I should have.

My teacher is so awesome. We have the best discussions, and he never puts anyone's ideas down - just tries to make whoever is speaking think harder and more critically without seeming to take sides, although we all know he's probably the most liberal person in the entire school building, not including Nick and Alex who are communists.

Anyway. Does anyone else think we should be spending more time thinking about the freaking economy and the war than about whether or not John Kerry was under fire when he saved that guy in Vietnam?

Sorry. I'm becoming rather politically opinionated.

Dude, I so agree. (with the last statement) It seems like we spend all of our time arguing over whether or not so-and-so lied about pledging to save the world, and whether or not some guy a million years ago was being shot at when he saved some other guy's life or not. People are dying while we're arguing, and while they think that arguing will eventually serve us good, there are easier and faster ways.

"What would happen, I wonder, if the armies suddenly and simultaneously went on strike and said some other method must be found of settling this dispute!" - Windston Churchill

(I know, not quite relevant, but I needed something to shout Amen! to.)

I know! Besides the lives that are being put on the line every second of every day for yet another stupid war, we have to waste so much breath arguing over such crap like that . . . And the sad part is, people will probably support Bush simply because they become convinced that Kerry really wasn't under enemy fire!

Grrr.

But thanks for that quote - as part of my english homework tonight, I was supposed to find a quote about war . . . And man, you came right in the nick of time! ^_-

Hah, that was lucky! That was a quote I saw in the Flanders Fields Museum in Belgium. Or at least I think it was Belgium. Anyway, the whole museum is in French, German and English, so it gave me a headache to read all of the quotes and stories on the walls. But this one really stood out, so I copied down on the back of my hand.

I completely agree with you. You know, it's not enough that he was in the war, now he has to be some hero who was under fire and should have lost several limbs but didn't because he's just that fucking amazing and has some weird ass ninja skills. Anything else would be unacceptable and make him a bad person.

I cannot stand the way politics will try to use something like that as a reason to slander a candidate. It doesn't matter what he did in the war. Him serving in Vietnam doesn't necessarily mean he can lead a country.

Grrrr.

I know! It seems to me like the Republicans are doing their utmost to avoid intelligent discussion of the real issues at hand in this election to spare their leader from disgracing himself some more by botching some more words.

i love that john kerry's involvement with vietnam is treated as trivial... never mind the fucking fact that g.w. didn't even go.
